Hello Everyone,

Where has the last few weeks gone?! Here we are our last 3 days in Year 1.
We intend to have a fun time together and play with our favourite toys.
The children have made some lovely friendships and have come on so much in their development it has been really rewarding to watch and be part of.
We really want to wish that you all have a lovely break and get to make some great memories as a family over the coming weeks.

Please let us know if you would like to attend the Snail and the whale Show as we need to confirm numbers. This is the perfect chance to have a fun day out where the children can enjoy something really special.

I would also like to thank Julia and the Team for their passion, dedication and for their enthusiasm to make the POW Pre-School the special Pre-School it is.
I would like to personally thank you as parents/Carers for making me feel so welcome and part of the POW community since I joined in November.

Can’t wait to see you all after the holidays to see what fun times you have had.

Hello Everyone,

We had a great time talking about our holidays and what we were most looking forward to.
We talked about how to stay safe when out and about and who to look for if we had a problem.

This week we are having a Pirate week which will lead up to our Pirate Party.
We will be making telescopes, treasure maps, and pin the patch on the pirate which we will look forward to playing at the party.
During the week we will learn some history about pirates and how they still exist in some waters today. The children seem very interested in this topic and eager to learn more.

Letters and Sounds
We will be having some fun with the musical instruments this week. Tapping rhymes and seeing if the children can copy and make up their own. The children will take it in turns to be the leader of the group.

Jigsaw
We will be talking about our friendship groups and our new classroom in year 2. The children have had a couple of sessions in the year 2 classroom and seemed to love it!
This is to help reinforce Personal, Social and Emotional Development and help them to make life choices.

Home Learning
Focus on numbers in the environment; see if your child can recognise some of the numbers on number plates. Look out for numbers on post boxes when out and about.

Holidays

Hello Everyone,

We had a lovely week hearing all about your families pets or borrowed ones!
Most of the children know what the basic things small animals need and how to look after them which is really promising.
At the end of the week our two new pets arrived and have been settling in to their new home. They are two boy Guinea Pigs who are 8 weeks old. I’m sure they will bring the children a lot of enjoyment over the coming months and years.
This week we are learning about different countries we may be visiting on our holidays, what we may see and how to stay safe.

Letters and Sounds
This week we will play sounds behind the screen to see if the children can identify the correct sound from the props in front of them.
We will also be counting claps to help the children they do not always have to count with a steady beat.

Jigsaw
We will be discussing Holidays and different destinations so, if you have any pictures of where you are going over the holidays to prompt conversations then please bring them in.
This is to help reinforce Personal, Social and Emotional Development and help them to make life choices.

Home Learning
We will continue to collect any wow’s up until the end of this week Then we will log them in to the Learning Journeys.
If you could look out for numbers on doors, packets, cars etc when you are out and about that would be great. Making number hunts fun and varied.

Please if you can cream up your child before you arrive, this would be a great help to us. Remember to make sure you are ticked off on the Sun Cream chart.

Pets

Hello Everyone,

We had a great week making all of the display work for our banner about Africa.
The children also had fun making the ginger cake for the snack café in the hall.
The children made the recycling bin and have started to use it for odd scraps of paper they no longer need.
We read stories about animals and sung some songs and played the drumming instruments.
This week we will be talking about animal care as we are hoping to add a new addition to our chicken/Wildlife area towards the end of the week. Watch this space!

Letters and Sounds
We will be playing describe the animal this week. We will also be describing somebody in the room to see if the children can recognise that they are all different. Clapping out the rhythms of their names will be continued as they children are starting to recognise other children’s as well as their own which is good.

Jigsaw
This week we will be talking about animals and pets within our family settings.
If you could bring in ay photo’s this would be great to add to our Jigsaw display board.
This is to help reinforce Personal, Social and Emotional Development and help them to make life choices.

Home Learning
The Wow Board is looking great. If you can include any Wow’s about counting or noticing shapes in the environment this would be very helpful.
