Image result for winter

Hello Everyone,

We had a great week continuing with our shape topic. We built lots of 3D structures with the wooden blocks and found out lots of things about using shapes in our construction play. The children really enjoyed making their shape biscuits and started to look for numbers on the scales. They also made predictions about what was going to happen next.
This week we will learn all about winter, what happens during winter time, the changes that take place. How we prepare ourselves for the cold and also look at some animals and how they adapt to the conditions.
We have some fun activities planned playing games, painting winter scenes, and looking at which animals like cold conditions.
During the afternoon’s we will be helping to make lanterns for the event in Poundbury on Friday evening.

This week we will be continuing building up the piece of Families – making relationships, self confidence and self awareness and behaviour. What makes us happy and what things we like to do.

Letters and Sounds
We will continue to play ‘Teddy lost in the Jungle’ the children hide a bear while some one is out of the room. They come back in and if the drum is playing loud they are close to the bear, if it’s quiet they are far away from saving the bear. The children found this quite tricky to listen out for the drum and if it was playing loud or soft.
We will also play describe the animal and see if the children can point out the correct animal from a set of clues.

Hello Everyone,

We had good week learning all about size. We did some naming of shapes and had to recognise if they were large or small. We ordered the compare bears in size during a game, and then counted them to see if they had the same numbers in each group.
We also did a shape hunt and put them into size order.
This week we will be continuing with our size and shape topic.
We have some good activities planned playing games, painting size shapes, and some cooking.

Hello Everyone,

We had a very fun week learning all about Bonfire Night. We enjoyed having a real open fire up at the round houses area on Monday with a campfire snack with Reception. We also toasted marshmallow with help and made them into biscuit sandwiches. Very yummy and sticky they were too!
The children enjoyed making their rocket sticking pictures and did lots of recall about the colours they had seen while watching fireworks.
For the next two weeks we will be learning about size, big, little and recapping shapes.
We have some fun activities planned playing games, hunting for objects, craft and cooking activities.
