Continuing with Easter....

Hello Everyone,

We have had a great week learning all about ‘spring’ we are all very excited about the baby chicks that will be hatching this week.
The week ended up with a great fun Friday afternoon joining in with the school’s Sports Relief activities. I have never seen the children run so fast and so far!
This week we will be continuing with the ‘Easter’ theme and completing all of our craft activities.  We have added pencil name cards  to the mark making area which all have the children’s names on so when they are creating they can start to mark make their names.

Letters and Sounds
The ‘Mrs Browning has a box’ has been developing well and we will continue with this. We will also be using our ‘Tappy Sticks’ to see if the children can copy loud and quiet sounds. While completing this activity we will also be trying to copy and repeat a rhythm.

Jigsaw
We will be continuing to have discussions at group times throughout the day.
We will talk about Easter and what they may be planning to do and people they may be seeing over this time. We are also playing games where they have to say the names of their friends so they all get to learn the names of who is in the class.
This is to help reinforce Personal, Social and Emotional Development and help them to make life choices.

Home Learning
Please bring in any wows about your Easter so that we can talk about these. When we come back after the holidays we will be getting the children to recall what they have enjoyed doing the most.
Hope you all have a lovely half term and look forward to seeing you all when we come in. It’s all going to be very exciting.

Notices
Don't forget to bring in your child's WOW moments. We love to share and celebrate these with everyone. There are spare WOW's by the WOW board in the corridor.

It was lovely to see some of you at Stay and Play on Wednesday.  This week Stay and Play will be on Thursday 29th March from 8.30-9.00am. Everyone is very welcome including younger and older siblings. Hope to see lots of you there.

We break up for the Easter holidays on Thursday 29th March and we return on Monday 16th April for the summer term.

Easter

Hello Everyone,

We have had talking about ‘spring’ this week and some of the changes that we will be starting to see. We helped Sharon to do some gardening outside and planted a few new seeds.  We have been visiting the year 2 classroom to see if we can see any changes with the eggs or Tadpoles starting to grow.
This week we will be learning about ‘Easter’ and the starting our act activities based on this theme. We will be doing some display work for our classroom on ‘spring’ and ‘Easter’

Letters and Sounds
The listening moment’s activities went well with the children learning new descriptive words as well as learning to listen to each other for a short time.
We will continue with ‘Mrs Browning has a box’ we sing a song and add in a different sound from behind a box and the children have to guess what it is. The group have enjoyed this and wanted to have a go at using the box themselves.

Jigsaw
We will be continuing to have discussions at group times throughout the day. Thank you to the families who brought in pictures of their animals we have displayed them to the jigsaw board. It’s interesting from a young age how children know which animals they are going to have when they are older and their likes and dislikes to animals.
This is to help reinforce Personal, Social and Emotional Development and help them to make life choices.

Home Learning
We hope you have all enjoyed the extra snow day?! Continue to send in any photo’s you have taken over the weekend. If you would like to bring in any pet photo’s to add to our display that would be great.
Please remind Zoe and Chloe if you need to re-schedule your Parent’s evening and we can get these arranged.
Looking forward to a busy week of crafting fun.

Spring

Hello Everyone,

We have had a very creative week making some special gifts which I hope the parents have enjoyed. The children worked really hard on these and did lots of mark making which was good to see.
This week we will be looking at ‘spring’ and the changes that take place during this time.  We will do some planting in the garden and plant some cress seeds.

Letters and Sounds
This week we will be having ‘listening moment’s’ during the day. We will be using a sand timer to time how long we are going to listen for. Then we are going to report back to the class what noises we heard. The children will model each of the sounds.
We will also introduce ‘Mrs Browning has a box’ we sing a song and add in a different sound from behind a box and the children have to guess what it is.

Jigsaw
We will be continuing to have discussions at group times throughout the day. We will be discussing that we are all different and looking at the differences of animals we have seen out and about.
This is to help reinforce Personal, Social and Emotional Development and help them to make life choices.

Home Learning
Thank you so much for sharing all of your snow photos and sending in lots of Wow’s with them. If you could bring in or email any pictures of your pets we can add these to our board as we are looking at differences between animals.

Hello Everyone,

What an interesting week we have had!! Thank you so much to you all for making the effort to get to Pre-School on Thursday all dressed up. The weather finally brought some snow and we all had a chance to have some great family times playing in the snow.
Last week the children really enjoyed the activities focussed on ‘Little Red Riding Hood’ Most of all they liked to talk about the wolf and how he ended up in the cooking pot!

This week we will be focussing on craft activities and making some special gifts for the weekend. These will be focussing on fine motor skills and using our imaginations to make something really special.

Letters and Sounds
Did any of your children notice how quiet it was when it was snowing with no cars on the road.  We will be seeing if we can hear anything different now the weather is changing. Hopefully we will start to hear the birds sing and the plants start to grow.
We will be playing picture lotto and following instructions while we are playing with the musical instruments.
We will also include ‘Pass the puzzle game’ as we have been working on our sharing skills and team work.

The children have been enjoying their group time discussions. We will be discussing spring and the changes we will be expecting to see in the environment soon.
