Music

We'll be listening and moving to music and sounds this week  ( EAD ).

The children will all be trying out different musical instruments, as we emphasise taking turns and listening to each other eg Close your eyes and guess which instrument is being played (C&L).

We'll talk about what they're made of and how different they can sound.

In addition to this we'll be making music shakers for every child to use, as we sing our favourite songs and nursery rhymes.

Running alongside this there will be a musical instrument related sponge painting activity.

Thank you to all those who have responded to our planned Coffee Morning this Wednesday 24th, we look forward to seeing you there.

Enjoy the half term break and a reminder that Monday 5th June is a training day so term will recommence on Tuesday 6th instead.

Textures

As the weather continues to hopefully improve, we'll be spending plenty of time enjoying outside activities, the involvement of water play proving always popular!

If it does become hot, please remember to bring in a named sun hat for your child and tick the list on right of the entrance door to inform us if you've already applied suncream.

If you still have not done so, please can you bring in a labelled suncream to be held at pre-school, if you prefer your child to not use ours (Nivea Factor 50 sensitive ). Thank You.

Throughout the week we'll be finding out about differing textures (EAD).

Using "feely " bags and all kinds of various items and materials materials, we'll describe what they're like and how they differ eg hard, soft, bumpy and so on, as we put together a collage for display.

Outside we'll explore textures on an outdoor scavenger hunt and later we'll be visiting our Sensory room to experience even more.

Transport

We are discussing different types of transport this week eg planes, trains, boats, cars etc
It's always good to hear the children relating their experiences of using any of them, and we'd welcome any wow moments you'd like to share with us.

As well as related small world play, we'll be using different sizes of wheels to paint and create patterns. This gives an opportunity to identify sizes, shape and colours.

At story time we'll talk about the noises trains, motorbikes etc make as we make the actions.

There will be toy car washing in the water tray and racing cars on the wooden ramp, as we talk about fast and slow, counting as we go. In the kitchen we'll be making shortbread, again linked into our topic.

Just a note to say that your child's name card on their peg may change position on some days, as we swap them round due to the increase in numbers, and limited number of pegs.
We think that this is a good opportunity though for the children to look for and identify their name!

Games and Activities

We hope that you enjoyed the Bank Holiday Weekend, despite the mixed weather!

During this short week we'll be playing games and activities which encourage taking turns and following directions (C & L and EAD ).

This will include ICT, block building, musical instruments, hall games and board games of the children's choice.

We will continue making our birds and setting up and observing our feeders outside (UW).

This week we will also be looking at Sounds and Letters observations eg Can you follow a rhythm, can you play an instrument loudly and quietly, can you make an animal noise for us to guess?

As we welcome our new children and our lunch club numbers increase, please can we kindly remind all parents to ensure that all lunch bags, bottles etc are clearly labelled. Please can all packed lunch items be put in the big blue box by the pegs, where they are later transferred to the fridge,  Many Thanks
