Books....

Image result for world book day

Hello Everyone,

We’ve had fantastic experiences this week learning all about the Chinese New-Year.  We used lots of skills to make our decorations and loved dancing to the Chinese music. Another thing we learnt is that our Goldfish are very good luck to the Chinese, We hope they are going to be very lucky for us too!
The children were all really happy to try the Chinese food and this brought lots of descriptive language about the colour, taste and what were the keen favourites.
The children were excited to tell us what they had been doing over the half term and we have recorded their news in their Learning Journey’s

This week we will be focussing on our Favourite story’s with World book day on Thursday. We can’t wait to dress us and have a fun day to celebrate how special books are to our children as well as everyone around the world.
The story focus will be ‘Little Red Riding Hood’ during free play last week the children were acting out being Wolf’s in the garden and this really caught their imagination and focus. It was great to see so much working together, listening and recall being created.

Letters and Sounds
This week we will be listening to environmental sound. We will be seeing if we can hear anything different now the weather is changing.
We will be playing the hiding the clock game and seeing if the children can take on the adult’s role in this game.
We will also include ‘who’s under the blanket’ as we have some children who have changed their session day so the children have learned all of their friend’s names.

Jigsaw
The children have been enjoying their group time discussions. We will be discussing what makes us happy /sad and how this makes us feel. Being kind to each other and taking turns during activities.
This is to help reinforce Personal, Social and Emotional Development and help them to make life choices.

Science week

Hello Everyone,

This week we will be continuing with our Science topic.  We will be doing some simple smell test so the children can learn to use their sense of smell.
We will also be baking so that the children can see the changing process that the ingredients go through and how they end up.
Last weeks activities were really interesting and the children made some great ideas about the items we placed in bottles. They had some good guesses about what was going to happen to them and learnt some new language. They were very keen to keep checking to see if there had been any changes to the object.
They also had fun with the candle magic painting and enjoyed seeing their creations appear once they added a thin layer of water paint to them. These will be up on display for you all to see.

Letters and Sounds
This week we will be listening to different instruments and describing how they sound. We will also listen to some different music to see how it makes us feel.
The hiding ticking clock has been a challenge for the children and we will continue with this during the week. We will be trying to see if we can follow simple instructions and sing loud and soft following a signal. We will also start to see if we can do some clapping rhythms.

Jigsaw
The children have been enjoying their group time discussions. We have now been talking about places we have been to visit and what they have seen at them. They also like to know where the adults are going and what they like to do in there spare time.
This week we will discuss the Half Term plans and who and what they may be seeing and doing over the days off.
This is to help reinforce Personal, Social and Emotional Development and help them to make life choices.

Home Learning
