#InspiredToLearn Half Term Holiday Design Challenge

#InspiredToLearn Half Term Holiday Design Challenge

“Lest We Forget”

This half term holiday we would like you to have a go at making your own single poppy, we will attach these to a wreath that we will be making in school.  The wreath will be placed at the town war memorial by some of our older children after half term as an act of remembrance for all those that gave their lives in conflict.

Design Specification:

- Your Poppy can be made of any material, clay, cardboard, felt, polymer clay, paper, recycled materials, etc.

- Your Poppy should be 3D, rather than flat.

- Your Poppy must be bigger than 5cm but smaller than 12cm in width.

- Your Poppy does not have to be red, in recent years we have used other colours to represent other groups of people who have given their lives in service of our country.  You could research these groups and decide what colour you would like to make.

- Your Poppy could have a loop or hook which will enable it to be attached easily to our wreath.

- Please write your name and year group neatly somewhere on your Poppy.

Please hand your Poppy in to your class teacher by Wednesday 4th November for its inclusion on our collaborative act of remembrance.

Hello everyone

Time-lapse Photography of RiverHello  Everyone,

Hello everyone,

Can I start by thanking you for all your continued support. Please be assured that we will stand with you at this time.

We have had a great week and have been creating lots of lovely artwork.

We enjoyed Farm singing together and we have read lots of new Farm stories at group times. The children also enjoyed a game of ‘name that animal noise’

Tuesday we looked at volume with full and empty, filling from pot to pot with the corn.

Wednesday we did some lovely sticking with the leaves we had been and collected.

Thursday we had a lot of fun mixing colours and creating tractor wheel  pictures.

Friday we made some leaf print pictures and also had lots of fun watching the Harvest Assembly.

We did some songs with the musical instruments  this week. This was enjoyed very much by all the children.

You will be receiving a delivery pack this week of activities you can continue with at home. We hope you enjoy this and if you would like to email any photos we would love to see them. My email is:   z.stockley@princeofwales.doret.sch.uk

If you need anything please do email/ring the school office (01305257120) and we will be able to help arrange whatever you need.

I will be keeping in regular contact with you and I will speak to you all soon.

A couple of parents have asked about when the 14 days self isolation period ends. The last day is Wednesday 21st October. This means if well, pupils can return to usual activities on Thursday 22nd October. This is during half term and we look forward to welcoming you all back on Monday 2nd November.

Farming fortnight

See the source imageHi Everyone,

Hello everyone,

This week we had a great time and really enjoyed the story of ‘The Little  Brown Hen’ The children worked together in small groups to make their bread rolls. We talked about numbers and whether we thought we needed more or less. The children loved going to see the tractor and were amazed at how big it was up close. We have been looking after the animals and very much enjoy watching them while they were eating.

We did some songs with the Tappy sticks  this week. We had lots of fun with each child being the leader of the group.

This week we will be continuing  on ‘ Farming fortnight’ . We have lots more activities to keep us busy as well as exploring harvest vegetables and talking about how and where they come from and what happens on a farm.

We will be doing some art work and craft activities to display at the virtual assembly at the end of the week.

Letters and Sounds

We will continue with our listening to different sounds, this week focusing on animal sounds and can the children use any descriptive words to describe an animal out of the magic box.

Jennie Jigsaw

Each week we will be doing activities to promote personal and social development in the children/class.

This week we will be talking about being kind and using kind words. We will also introduce Jennie(soft toy) to the group so she can tell the children some of the kind words that she likes to hear, while watching us play on the shelf.
