Pumpkins....

Hello Everyone,

We have had a great week,  the leaf pictures came out really well. The children also tried to mix up their own colours. While in the garden the children have loved running and jumping on the leaves and listening to the different sound they make.
The children enjoyed the story of the ‘Enormous Turnip’ while reading we introduced the children to joining in on the repeated refrains.

This week we will be doing some work exploring the pumpkins and seeing what's inside of them. We will make some pumpkin cakes and see how they taste.
We will also have some supervised time with the tools and the pumpkins. We will hammer in small pieces of twigs to create a Hegehog.

This week we will continue with our feelings focus, friendships and what we like and what makes us happy and sad.
We will start talking about our families and celebrate how each of them are different.

Letters and Sounds
This week we will play ‘ What’s that noise’ the children put their hand in the box and have to guess what the object is. We will also use the Musical instruments and see if we can follow a loud and soft instruction.

Home Learning
Please can you send in a wow of things you do over the half term break. If you could talk about numbers in the environment and help your child to identify these.
How many places do they see numbers such as post box, house numbers, road signs etc.
You can always email in any photo evidence for us to display and we will print them off for you.

Autumn and the Enormous Turnip

Hello Everyone,

We have had a great week  making some chickens, Hedgehogs and potato printing for the Harvest Display that will be up in the school hall. The wheel painting was also lots of fun. The Harvest Assembly was great and the children enjoyed watching all the other children sing. They did really well during their own performance as I am sure you will agree.

This week we will be doing some leaf rubbing and printing and making leaf suncatchers. We will be talking about the different colours of the leaves and how they feel when they crunch under our feet.
Our story focus this week will be the ‘Enormous Turnip’ as we prepare to harvest our pumpkins and cook with them.

We will continue with this and see how well the children do with taking on the role of the person playing the drum. We will also use the Tappy Sticks to listen and explore the sounds we are making.

Sunday 6 October 2019

Hello Everyone,

We have really enjoyed reading all about the
‘Little Red Hen’ We had great fun bread making with the children making
predictions about what was going to happen next. We really hope they
enjoyed eating them? We have had great fun feeding the chickens each day
and seeing how many eggs they have laid.
We also started to make some chickens for the Harvest Display that will be up
in the hall. We did a small amount of scissor work on a 1-1 basis. If you were
able to help your child to get used to using scissors this would be really
appreciated.

This week we will be completing our vegetable painting as we did not get
round to this this week with all of our baking.
We will be encouraging the children to describe the texture of the fruit and
what they feel like. We will also finish our wheel painting and listening to what
knowledge your children have about Harvest and Farming.
We will finish on friday by going to Assembly and celebrating Harvest Festival
with the whole school.

Letters and Sounds
This week we will be playing Teddy lost in the room. One person goes outside
while the others in the group hide the bear. The child then comes back in,
when the drum plays quiet they are a long way away, when it plays really loud
they are close by.

Home Learning
With new sounds in mind please could you record on a ‘WOW’ if your child
has heard or recognised a new sound while you have been out and about.
