Hello everybody

Year 1

Hello Everyone,

We had a great first week back. The children loved playing together and have really started to initiate conversations and listen to each other while playing. This is really great to see.

We did some colour, number and shape recall and played some small group games around these themes. The children did some lovely paintings about what they did over the half term and remembered lots of information. It was great to hear all about their adventures.

This week we will be focussing on Spring and the changes that take place during time. The book of the week will be ‘Jasper's Beanstalk.’

We will also do some planting.

Healthy Movers

This week we will be birds in the rainforest. This is all about balance and coordination. The children are really enjoying these activities and working well as a group.

Notices

Stay and play morning sessions are now posted next to our door on the window. It would be great to see you. These run once a week on a different morning each week from 8.30am-9.00am. We also have one every half term on a Saturday. This week stay and play is on Thursday morning at 8.30-9.00am.

The  1PM after lunch collection from the little classroom has been going well. This is to provide a smooth and consistent routine for the children who are transitioning all day. Please remember the classroom door opens at 8.50, unless it is a stay and play morning.

Charlie Bear will be continuing to make his adventures home with the children this week. We look forward to reading about what he has been up to over his time with you. If it’s easier you can email any photos to Zoe on the email address below.

Home Learning

  • Can you identify any red things on your way to Preschool?

  • Can you put on your own shoes? The children are making great progress with this skill.

We will be starting to send out some challenges for you to help your child to complete at home. Feedback can be sent back using a ‘WOW’ The Challenges will help your child to develop to the next level in their learning and skills.

Zoe will let you know if you need to arrange a meeting if you were unable to attend parents evening. We will plan these in the next couple of weeks.

If your child does not yet have a drink bottle to leave at Preschool please can you send one in with them this week. We will need these as the weather starts to get warmer. If you have not yet returned your sunscreen permission slip, this would also be very helpful.

The bottles are sterilised each week and we will let you know if they need replacing for any reason.

Please try to leave all home toys at home or in your child’s bag as we struggle to find them if they get lost!

Toilet training - our aim is to have all children in pants before they move to year 2 Preschool after the summer break. We will mirror whatever you are modelling at home. It is best to make a start at home when you have plenty of time and don’t have to be rushing around.

If you have any further questions you can email Zoe on the following email.

We are a NUT FREE SCHOOL, so please can we remind our families that the children have no products containing nuts in their lunchbox.

Looking forward to a great week of fun learning together.

We can’t wait to see you all,

Zoe, Chloe,Lauren and James

Hello Everyone......

Year 1

Hello Everyone,

We hope that you have had a lovely half term break and enjoyed some time with your families.

We are very much looking forward to hearing what you have all been up to.

This week we will be doing a recall of what the children can remember and making some art work about this. We will be recalling our colours and numbers to see how the children's skills are developing.

We will also be welcoming some new friends into the class so we are looking forward to helping them settle into the class.

If your child leaves at 1PM after lunch we will leave from the little classroom where we are at the afternoon collection. This is to provide a smooth and consistent routine for the children who are transitioning all day.

Charlie Bear will be continuing to make his adventures home with the children this week. We look forward to reading about what he has been up to over his time with you. If it’s easier you can email any photos to Zoe on the email address below.

Hello everyone.....

Year 1

Hello Everyone,

We have had a great week of learning and the children have really enjoyed exploring colours and shapes.

On Monday we read the story of ‘Spot’ and helping him to find all the colours. The children really enjoyed this and found many more shapes around the classrooms.

On Tuesday we played some colour matching with the compare Bears, this was all about selecting the correct colours and counting how many we had each by the end of the game.

On Wednesday we did a colour hunt in the classroom. The children worked really hard to identify the colours and help each other to collect all the different colours for their trays.

On Thursday we did some mixing of colours on the easel. The main colour the children made was Brown! The children also enjoyed baking some lovely shape biscuits in the afternoon.

On Friday we continued with our colour mixing and had a look to see how many different colours we could find in the garden.

The children have really enjoyed this and gained lots of confidence in the class.

This week we will be doing some Sticky Kids physical action songs which I am sure the children will love.

This week we will be exploring ‘Transport’ . I am sure the children will enjoy this and we have some great activities planned.

Charlie Bear will be continuing to make his adventures home with the children this week. We look forward to reading about what he has been up to over his time with you. If it’s easier you can email any photos to Zoe on the email address below.
