Hello  Everyone,

We hope you have had a good week and made the most of the dry days we have had.  We are glad you have all been enjoying the home learning packs and been doing some of the activities. We really are missing all being together and hope soon we can have our buzzing class back together again.

At PreSchool this week the children loved exploring colours and have been doing some lovely creative artwork.

This week the children will continue to do activities related to colours and shapes. They have had lots of their own thoughts about what they would like to do. I’m sure it’s going to be great fun.

Zoe will call you this week to see if you need anything. Please let her know if you need anything and what your thoughts are requiring sessions for next term. Home learning packs will be created and distributed out on Thursday this week.

Ideas of things you may like to try at home:

Make some balloon rockets - have a race to see who goes the furthest?

Bubble play - play with bubbles on a windy day outside. Can your child touch the bubbles without popping them?

Create a short obstacle course with household items. Make sure you demonstrate before your child starts. You could practice counting skills by counting while they complete the task.

Please always remember you can  call or email  us anytime if you have a question or need anything.

My email is:   z.stockley@princeofwales.dorset.sch.uk

Take care

Hello  Everyone,

We hope you made the most of the cold but dry weather this week. Please keep the great photos and work coming in to us.  It’s lovely to see how much the children are challenging their learning and developing their skills further.

At PreSchool this week the children loved creating Moon pictures using tin foil, making fruit rockets for snacks.

This week the story focus will be ‘ The Blue Balloon’ which is a great story and

has lots of new words to extend the children's vocabulary. Alongside this we will be concentrating on colours and shapes, having lots of fun activity planned for the week.

Zoe will continue to contact you during the week to see if you have everything you need. Please let her know if you need anything. Home learning packs will continue to be created on a weekly basis and distributed out. I’m sure you will find these useful when you are looking for some time to fill.

Ideas of things you may like to try at home:

Make a laser maze - use masking tape to make a maze between the walls. Can your child navigate their way through it.

Building challenge - Use pegs and lolly sticks to see what construction models you are able to create.

Make some salt dough shapes, you can then decorate them when cooked and cool.

Please always remember you can  call or email  us anytime if you have a question or need anything.

Stay safe and we will look forward to speaking or seeing you soon.

Hello  Everyone,

We hope you have all had a nice week and made the most of your time together. Hopefully you managed to get some fresh air and a little change of scene. It has been lovely to see all the photos you have emailed in to us. Please keep these coming in as it’s nice to see the children enjoying themselves.

At PreSchool this week the children showed such a great interest in the science theme they will be continuing with this. The story focus will be ‘Aliens love underpants’

Chloe and Colleen have lots of fun activities planned which I am sure the children will enjoy. These include : Moon Crafting, Alien faces with the playdough, Asteroid throwing and searching for stars.

Below is the link for the interactive story if you would like to look at it while you are at home.

We will continue to support you while your child is at home. Zoe will continue to contact you on a Monday morning to see if you have everything you need. Please let her know if you need anything. Home learning packs will be created on a weekly basis and distributed out. I’m sure you will find these useful when you are looking for some time to fill. This week the weather is meant to be a little wet. Maybe time to embrace the rain and head out for an adventure?!

Ideas of things you may like to try at home:-

Everyday Mr Spracklen has Good morning POW at 9.30, 11.20 virtual assembly and 4.00pm Evening POW. This can be accessed on Facebook and you tube and is a great way of seeing what everyone is up to. It's really interactive and guarantee to make you smile.

Measuring rain - put containers out and see how much rain falls  you can catch in a day in a day.

Finger gym - Use a hole punch to make holes in the card. You can then use this as a lacing card with some string or wool.

Wrap up warm and go puddle jumping, come home get changed and dry and have a nice warm drink.

Shaving foam play - put out some shaving foam on an old tray. Use plastic pots and tubs with spoons, scoops and cake cases to create.

Challenge your child’s finger gym by adding a pair of tongs with the block play to see how many bricks they can pick up.

Year 1

Hello  Everyone,

We would like to thank you all for your support, as always during this challenging time. At PreSchool this week we will continue to be focussing on  the story of ‘Whatever next’ as this is a great space  theme to it. We  have lots of fun activities planned.

Things you might like to try at home:

If you have decided to keep your child safe at home during this time we will continue to give you our full support. We will contact you usually on a Monday to see how you all are and if you have everything you need. Home learning packs will be created on a weekly basis and distributed out. I’m sure you will find these useful when you are looking for some time to fill. We are lucky with the weather and although its cold can still get out for some exercise each day.

Ideas of things you may like to try at home:

Everyday Mr Spracklen has Good morning POW at 9.30, 11.20 virtual assembly and 4.00pm Evening POW. This can be accessed on Facebook and you tube and is a great way of seeing what everyone is up to. It's really interactive and guarantee to make you smile.

Play musical hide and seek hiding your phone and allowing your child to hunt for it.

Gloop Play - cornflower and water, this is great to play out in the garden with baking trays and some jugs of water. The children will love this as the texture continues to change throughout.

Scavenger hunt - show your child 6 items and then hide them out in the garden. You could take a picture of all the items on the tablet or phone so they know what they are looking for.

When you are out for your daily exercise ask your child to look out for any numbers they see on the way. You could also ask them to look for items that are a certain colour.

While the temperature is freezing overnight, put out some plastic pots and tubs so you have some large blocks of ice to play with in the morning.

Notices

Last week we sent out a letter explaining that you would be able to come and collect your home learning packs. As we are open we will be giving the children who are attending the home learning packs when they are in at Preschool towards the end of the week. If your child is not attending pre-school we will deliver the home learning packs to you at home.

If you are not attending pre-school you will not be charged for your sessions. If you are attending sessions Caroline will send out an invoice for these sessions soon.

Local Food Links is continuing with hot lunches, If your child normally has a hot lunch and is going to be attending Pre-school these can now be ordered as normal. We have ordered enough hot lunches for this week for all children who would normally have a hot lunch.

We love seeing all the lovely home learning you are all doing so please do email it in to z.stockley@princeofwales.dorset.sch.uk and headteacher@princeofwales.dorset.sch.uk

Happy new Year

Hello  Everyone,

We really hope you have had a lovely Christmas time and have made lots of memories for the future. We would like to thank you for all our generous cards and gifts we received. We have had a nice break and can’t wait to see everyone again. We welcome another adult Colleen in to the class. Colleen will be working every morning as our numbers increase. This allows us to use all the space in the building and have our 2 classrooms open allowing for free flow throughout the rooms. This week we will also be welcoming some new friends to the class. I’m sure we are going to have lots of fun and adventures together.

This week we will be focussing on  the story of ‘Whatever next’ as this is a great space  theme to it. We  have lots of fun activities planned making telescopes, marble painting, moon sand, and doing some science experiments and making predictions. During the week we would also like to have a picnic snack like the bear in story. We will also play some Maths/Colour games on our interactive board.

It’s going to be a very fun week, learning lots of new skills and our new friends names.

Letters and Sounds

We will play ‘Who’s under the blanket’ . One child goes outside the room with an adult, the other children in the group decide who is going to hide under the blanket. The other chld then comes back in and has a guess at who is under the blanket. The children clap and sing a little rhyme and they love it.

Notices

Over the next couple of weeks we will send the Magical moments books home so you can contribute your Christmas adventures.

Please always remember you can  call or email  us anytime if you have a question or need anything.
