Hello everyone

Hello Everyone,

Hope you had a good week and have done lots of fun things. Thank you for all the lovely emails and pictures. It's lovely to see what great things you have all been up to.

I will be catching up with you throughout the week but please do email if we can help with anything.
Here are some things you may like to try this week:

Physical Development - pedal for numbers. Practice recognition while riding a favorite bike or scooter. You can chalk or have the numbers drawn on pieces of paper around the garden.
Outdoor canvas painting - collect flower petals,  mix them up with water to make different colours. Paint away on your paper or canvas.

Maths - Set out bowls and number each one 1-5. Your child has to collect the correct number of objects for the bowl. You could extend the game by adding some numbers of groups together or taking some away.

Expressive Art and Design - use a saucepan and spoon to beat out a simple rhythms. Can you child repeat it back to you. Can they make up their own. Can they follow a simple instruction to play loud or soft.

Everyday Mr Spracklen has Good morning POW at 9.30, 11.20 virtual assembly and 4.00pm Evening POW. This can be accessed on Facebook and you tube and is a great way of seeing what everyone is up to. There are great guest on the virtual assemblies.

On Friday 1st May at 5.00pm is a virtual disco. This can be accessed on Facebook and you tube.

Next Week.....
VE Day - Local - Thursday 7th May 2020 -
With the national commemorations taking place on Friday 8th May 2020, we plan to hold our own local virtual #InspiredToLearn commemoration on Thursday 7th May 2020.
Our commemoration will take the format of an #InspiredToLearn Music Concert that will run from 2pm through to 5pm, hopefully providing the perfect backdrop to another picnic in your garden. We figured that two picnics in two days can be no bad thing!?
If you or your son/daughter would like to play at this virtual concert, please email me and we will work out agreed songs and timings in advance.
At 4:00pm, we will join together with a POW-wide rendition of Dame Vera Lynn’s ‘We’ll Meet Again’, perfect practice before the national effort on the following day.

75th Anniversary - VE Day -
Friday 8th May 2020 marks 75 years since the guns fell silent at the end of the war in Europe. The 75th anniversary of Victory in Europe was to have been marked with a series of local and national events, including our very own #InspiredToLearn VE Street Party.
However, with these plans now cancelled the idea of a 'Stay at Home Street Party' is encouraging people to decorate their houses in red, white and blue and have a picnic in their front garden to celebrate.

Thank you for staying in contact with us. We really are looking forward to seeing you all in the near future.

Hello everyone,

Hello Everyone,

We hope you have had a good week and enjoyed receiving your special deliveries.
It looks like we are in for a warm week weather wise so hopefully you will be able to get out in your gardens. Water play is always a favourite as is digging and getting as muddy as they can go down well.

It was lovely to catch up with you all this week and see what you have been doing making the most of the weather.
Here are some ideas of other activities you may like to try out this week:

Set up a car wash area in your garden. I’m sure the children will spend some time washing and cleaning the cars/trucks. They could also have a clean of any toys.

Draw shapes in chalks on the path. Play a recognition games to see if your child can find the shapes. They could also try drawing the different shapes. Looks for items of a certain shape.

Fill up a washing up bowl with water and plastic numbers or shapes. Can they fish for the correct one, count how many they have managed to collect.

The Sea Life London Aquarium are doing live streams each day just search the website.

Some examples of jobs your child could help you with:
Making their bed, picking up 5 toys as a challenge, help to feed the animals. Lay up the dinner table. Help to prepare vegetables for the evening meal.

Hello everyone

Hello Everyone,

We hope you have had a lovely Easter and done your best to eat as much chocolate as you can. Everyone has to have a bit of chocolate for breakfast on Easter sunday!
We do hope you are continuing to go out for your daily exercise and take in lots of things around you that you would normally not notice.

It was lovely to catch up with you all this week and see what you have been doing making the most of the weather. I was very impressed by the amount of camping in gardens that was taking place. More to the point you stayed there all night and did not go back in when it got a little cold.
The chick’s are continuing to get their daily exercise in Julia’s garden and I’m sure she will continue to post some pictures for you to see.

On Wednesday you will receive a resource pack with lots of activity ideas we have put together. Please feel free to dip in and out of these ideas as they are just suggestions.
They cover Healthy bodies, Fine motor skills, Small world challenges and sensory activities.
If you would like to borrow any of the Preschool resources you are more than welcome, just drop us an email.

We thought the children might like to know what our adventures have been.

Zoe has been doing some decorating, walking her dog, doing some gardening. I have also enjoyed playing board games with my family.

Chloe has been very active and set up a makeshift volleyball net in her garden and the highest score so far is 23. Chloe has also enjoyed taking her daily exercise in her local forest area.

Helen has been taking her dogs for daily walks and has been camping in her garden. "I have been playing on the trampoline and decorating my house."

Karen has been dancing and singing to music. I have been enjoying reading some books and playing some board games with my family. I have also been jogging around my house.

Caroline has been doing lots of yummy baking and has started knitting poppies ready for Remembrance in November. "I have done lots of tidying and enjoying the sunshine in my garden. I had great fun making a birthday bouquet from wild foliage from one of my walks."

Sunday 5 April 2020

Hello everyone

Hello Everyone,

We have been very lucky with the weather over the last few days. I hope you are all managing to settle into a routine each day to try and keep things as normal as we can for the children. Sometimes they just want you to sit down and be with them having some quiet time together. You don’t always need to be completing tasks and doing lots of learning activities. Sometimes a carpet picnic is all they need. Let them have a jug of water and some cups to play with in the garden or in the bath.

I will be continuing with my phone conversations this week. If you can think of anything you need write it down and I will see if I can help you.

The chick’s hatched  this week and we were lucky to catch  the live camera link. They look very sweet and I'm sure will get big very quickly. I’m sure the children will enjoy watching this and listening to the chicks. There will be a live video throughout the week of the chicks so you can watch them grow.

Here are some challenges you may like to try over the coming days.

Why don’t you go on a number hunt and see how many different numbers you can see around you walking environment.

When you are out give your child something to carry on the way so it can be a distraction if they like to touch everything along the way. Perhaps take a Teddy as lots of houses have put teddy's at the windows for children to spot.

You could do a little experiment of dissolving the jelly beans. Sort all of them out into different colour groups. Then drop them into a cup of vinegar and watch the colour dissolve. Lots of fun and great learning.

Play some floating and sinking activity out in the garden. Set up a bucket of water and let the children explore what things float and what sinks.

Paint up some toilet roll tubes and lane them with different numbers. See if the children are able to make a complete number line. They may be able to put two small numbers together.

Hole punch a pattern in a piece of cardboard and let the children use different string or wool to thread a pattern. You can also use toilet roll tubes to punch holes in and let the children thread through straws or pipe cleaners

Farmer Palmers Farm Park has a live stream each day which is very interesting for the children to watch.

Over the week I have found some great resources to help children understand what is going on at the moment. Here is some of the resources I have found.

-The Prince of Wales school Facebook page has some resources to support our families

-The playmobil video is great for explaining what is happening and why (https://www.heart.co.uk/news/coronavirus/playmobil-video-explain-virus-children/)

-Please check out the Kingfisher Ward Dorset County Hospital Facebook page for a video which helps children to understand a bit more about it.
