Weather and birds

Image result for cold weather and birds

Hello Everyone,

We had lots of fun playing with the Animals in the shaving foam/snow. This created lots of opportunities for talk about which animals like the cold/snow and water. We really loved making our bird food and we hope the birds liked it?
We have also added a bird feeder in the garden and we are measuring how much the birds have eaten. This week we will focus on the weather / cold conditions.
This week we will be counting birds in the garden and seeing if we can identity them.
Last week we could hear the birds but not see them. We will make some binoculars to see if this helps us.
Talking about the cold weather and experiencing some ice play, using expressive language and making predictions about how long we think it will take to melt.

Hello Everyone,

We had lots of fun creating fish to go on our display board. This also created lots of opportunities to talk about colours and shapes we could see. During the week we loved exploring with the ‘Tappy Sticks’ the children have very good rhythm and really enjoyed singing to the beat of the music.
This week we will be learning about animals that like the cold weather. During the week each day we will try and do a bird count outside and see if we can see any different types of bird. We will make some bird feed for the birds as it has got very cold and they will appreciate some nice fatty feeders.

We will be talking about making friendships and our likes and dislikes. Talking about what we know and asking questions.
Working together working through things continues through this theme. The children are really starting to form friendship groups, which is great to see.

Letters and Sounds
we will continue play roll the ball, learning all our friends names is quite tricky. This is a really fun game; the children roll the ball to another member of the group. Before they roll they have to say their name. This helps with the learning of our friend’s names.

Home Learning
Keep the lovely Wow’s coming in. If you have a quick 30 minutes and you could do a bird watch please do. Bird numbers are dropping and we can help out by logging our own observations.
