Hello Everyone, 

We had a lovely week. The children have been very busy creating for Easter and experimenting with colour. The children have been working together to create a narrative to their play with the small world toys which has been great to see. 

This week we will be baking and creating together for the last week of term. We really hope you have a lovely Easter and I’m sure we will get some sunshine!

Notices

We break up for the Easter holidays on Friday 31st March and return on Monday 17th April. We wish you all a very Happy Easter.

We are a NUT FREE SCHOOL, so please can we remind our families that the children have no products containing nuts in their lunchbox.

Please can you return your sunscreen permission slip if you have not already done so. I’m sure we will start to see the warmer weather when we return. 

Please can you ensure your child has a clearly named water bottle that can live at Pre-School for the remainder of the year. With the warmer weather coming we like to keep the children well hydrated.

Hello everyone.....

 

Year 1

Hello Everyone, 

We had a very busy week on Monday we were busy with our craft creations. On Tuesday we worked on our gifts. On Wednesday we made some lava lamps and this led to lots of great thinking and new language. On Thursday we did some more investigations and did some fizzy coke exploding experiments. This was lots of fun to watch. On Friday we investigated melting and did some experiments with what would melt ice. We used salt and warm water. The children have really enjoyed these investigations and have wanted to know lots of information about how things work. On Friday afternoon we also went over to school to watch the rocket launch. 

This week we will be starting our Easter Activities.  We also have some craft activities to complete during the week.

Easter Bingo is coming to POW on Friday 24th March 2023.

Doors open at 5.30pm ready for eyes down at 6.00pm.

Year 1

Hello Everyone, 

We had a great week with our shape focus. We played some games and identified how many different shapes were in our classroom. The children were great at counting the corners and matching the shapes together. We also started some craft activities for later this week. 

This week we will be having a science focus and have some experiments to take part in so this will be lots of fun. We also have some craft activities to complete during the week.

The children are really developing their listening skills which is great to see.

This week stay and play is on Tuesday morning at 8.30-9.00am.

On Friday it is Comic Relief and children are very welcome to come dressed in Red. A suggested donation of £1.00 to support Comic Relief.

Year 1

Hello Everyone, 

We had a lovely week and it was great to read so many of your favourite stories on world book day. We have enjoyed playing small group games together. We had a really fun time painting to music on Wednesday and we painted to how the music was making us feel. Outside we practised some ball skills and catching, balancing the bikes down the hill. The children are really starting to play together and listen very carefully to what others are saying and doing. 

This week we will be having a shape focus and we have some fun activities planned and we will develop these ideas from the children’s own interests.

This week stay and play is on Friday morning at 8.30-9.00am and also on Saturday morning 10-11.30am. We look forward to seeing you. Younger and older siblings welcome.

Year 1

Hello Everyone, 

We had a lovely first week back. The children were so pleased to see each other and they are really starting to respond well to what others are saying and doing. We did some colour recognition, counting practice and balancing and making lots of fun structures. We enjoyed our time outside and we did lots of balancing and exploring with new materiels. 

This week we will be having a story focus and we have lots of great things planned. If your child would like to bring in a favourite story to share that would be great. If you could make sure they are named this would be a real help as we would hate to lose them.

On Wednesday evening at 7.30pm is POWSA meeting in the main school staffroom. Everyone welcome. If you would like more information please come and speak to Julia.

On Thursday it is World Book Day, If your child is due in on Thursday they are welcome to dress up as their favourite book character. Please see letter for more details.

We had a great last week of term and we played some lovely group games together. We have been recognising lots of different colours and shapes in the environment. We also very much enjoyed playing ‘What’s the time Mr Wolf’

This week we will be exploring water and all the different values it has and bubble play. We have lots of fun activities planned and will also be letting the children test out their own ideas.

Year 1

Hello Everyone, 

We have had a really fun week and the children have been really busy mixing and exploring new colours. We had a real good look at the colours around us outside. It was great to catch up with you all at parents evening and lovely to talk about the progress your child is making. They really do amaze us everyday!  

This week we will be looking at shapes and have lots of fun things planned. 

We hope you enjoy your half term break and have lots of fun out and about exploring.

We break up for half term on Thursday 9th February and return back to pre-school on Monday 20th February.  We wish you all a fabulous half term.

On Tuesday evening in the main school staff room at 8pm we are are hosting a NEST parent workshop about Managing children's emotions.  Here is a link to the event. NEST parent workshopIf you are interested or would like more information please speak to Julia.
