World book week

Hello Everyone,

We had a lovely week talking about Spring we had lots of fun planting our own sun flowers so we can watch them grow and make predictions about what might happen to them next. We drew some nice spring pictures for the display board and looked around the garden for signs that spring is coming. We also tried out a new way of trying to put our coats on. If you see your child laying their coat out in front of them, arms in, then flicking over their head this is the new way!
This week is World Book Day and we are looking forward to dressing up on Thursday to celebrate our love of books.  We will read books in different areas of the inside and outside environment to see if it captures the children’s imagination. The children have chosen to do a display on Jasper’s Beanstalk as it is one of their favourite stories. We will do lots of painting and working together to create this master piece.
We are going to be having a strong focus on Literacy and Communication and Language this week. The children’s language skills are increasing rapidly and we would like to capture some of this progress.
On Tuesday we will be joining in with celebrating Pancake Day with lots of fun activities including tasting pancakes.
On Wednesday children may bring in a book that they would like to swap with another child. You then get to keep the book that your child has swapped.

Jennie Jigsaw
We will continue playing Teddy lost in the room to see how we are progressing with this from the last time we played this game.
The children have really good memories and listening skills, including listening to each other which is great to see.

Letters and Sounds
We are going to focus on the sound box this week this week. We are going to be making up rhyming songs and performing these in pairs. We will be seeing if the children can recognise and join in with a missing word from a familiar story or rhyme. .

Home Learning
Please send in some Wow’s of anything you have achieved over the last few days.
Has your child done any counting, noticed something different, recognised a sign post these are all observations we would like to hear about. If your child would like to bring in their favourite story to share at group time they will be most welcome. If you could write their names in the front cover so we don’t get them mixed up it would be a great help.

With the warmer weather coming and you would like to give potty training a try just let us know and we will help where ever we can.

Notices
Please remember to check your Child’s post pocket when you hang up coats in the
mornings, all important post will be there.

Don't forget to bring in your child's WOW moments. We love to share and celebrate these with everyone. There are spare WOW's by the WOW board in the corridor.
