Hello everyone....

Year 1

Hello Everyone,

This week we have been very busy with our learning.

The children have been developing their listening skills and have done some great creative work.

The children loved the painting artwork with the number stamping with the corresponding dots. The children also enjoyed mixing up the colour and creating their own new one.

We did some great number work and everyone enjoyed the Conker rolling, we had to guess how far we thought each one was going to reach. We then marked this on our mat. We made some adaptations using pipes and guttering.

The children loved learning some new action songs and loved the ‘Sticky Kids’ activity songs we did during group times.

For the next two weeks we will be focusing on farming and harvest. We love this topic and have so many fun things planned to do.

Healthy Movers

This week we will be looking at balance and coordination. We are going to play ‘Birds in the tree’. This is great fun and it’s so good to help develop balance and coordination.

Please continue to bring in  your child's All about me information pack that would be great as it gives us some information to start conversations.

If you could bring a spare change of clothes for your child this is always helpful. Please can you ensure you have brought a drinking bottle that can be left at preschool for the whole year, clearly named. Please ensure they do not have a straw. These will be put through the dishwasher after every session. We have plenty of wellies as the weather is getting wetter. If you could provide a waterproof coat each day that would be great. We like to get out for small periods of time if the rain is not too heavy!

The parent consultation session letter will be coming home this week. Please be sure you sign up as Zoe would like to meet and catch up with you about your child’s learning and progress. If you are unable to make the date Zoe is more than happy to arrange another day that suits you. The sign up sheet is on the classroom window.

Please remember the classroom door opens at 8.55, unless it is a stay and play morning.  Stay and play dates are displayed next to the entrance door. We also have an additional one each half term on a sat morning.

Also on Saturday morning from 10-11.30am we have our Stay and Play Session. Everyone welcome.

Please try to leave all home toys/comfort objects in your child’s bag. We can then keep track of what has come out so they don’t get lost.

We will be having a parents information session coming up soon when all the children for this term have joined the class. If you can continue to drop your child off at the classroom door this works very well and builds independence and builds relationships with your child’s key workers.

Hello Everyone,

The children have really enjoyed their week and have loved playing with their favourite things in the year 1 classroom. We played some fun group games and listened to some great music.

For the last couple of days we will be enjoying all of the activities together. We can’t believe the year has flown by and the children have become active learners. They have built great relationships with each other and are well prepared for their journey into the Preschool year 2 classroom.

Healthy Movers

We will be using our scarves to move to music this week. This helps with the children’s spatial awareness  and coordination.

Home Learning

Can your child pull up their own pants and trousers when they have finished in the toilet? The children are really developing in this area so thank you for your support with this skill.

Can your child put on their own shoes?

Is your child able to help with dressing in the mornings?

These tasks are always optional but are great to see the progression of your child's skills and knowledge building.

We would like to wish you all a great summer break and look forward to seeing you all again in September.
