Hello Everyone,

We have had a great week and had lots of fun making our ‘Special Gifts this week’
Hopefully everyone has enjoyed them.
Towards the end of the week we did experiment and make our Elderflower water. After carefully mixing /smelling we decided that we would not try the drink! This week the children will be able to sample some that we have brought. It was a good activity to do so they children could see the process and that not everything comes from the supermarket.
This fortnight we are learning all about ‘Global Awareness’ we are going to be learning all about Africa. We will be having Handa’s Surprise as our book focus where we will be able to taste lots of different fruits throughout the week. During the week we will be making new bins for plastic and paper and talk about how we can help the environment with recycling.
Friday is our dancing afternoon so please come along and your child can join in if they wish, the more dancers we have the better. This will be 2.30 on the school field.

Letters and Sounds
This week we will be trying out some different rhymes with the drums and shakers. We will also listen to some African music to help us play in the right style. We will play describe the animals as the children are getting really skilled at this. During the session we will be getting the children to clap out the rhythms of their names to see if they are able to copy them back. We started this last week so would like to continue with it.

Jigsaw
This week we will be talking what countries our families have been to, what they may of seen and what the weather was like. If you can bring in any items to support this, that would be great.
This is to help reinforce Personal, Social and Emotional Development and help them to make life choices.

Home Learning
Please help us to get the Wow board nice and full up. We have had to extend the area to fit them all in so it’s been a great team effort so thank you.

Moving to Year Two
The summer term will go very quickly and your children are very well prepared to make the transition in to year 2 with Julia and the team.
If you have any questions to do with this transition then please do come and speak to Zoe, Chloe and Colleen or of course Julia.
Over the coming weeks the children will having some transition time with us and the other staff in the year 2 room to familiarise themselves with the surroundings.
This year we are also in the process of preparing end of year reports. We will have some times after the Pre-School day if you would like to discuss these further.
Times and dates for this will  follow later this month.

As the weather is sun and hot, please could all children bring sun hats to school. We do have a box of spares if needed. If you have applied suncream to your child before school please could you let a member of staff know. If you have ticked to supply your own suncream, please could you make sure children have this when they come to pre-school ready for us to apply.
