Hello everyone

Hello Everyone,

We hope you have found some interesting things to do although the weather has been a little cooler this week. Most days it has dried up at some point so we have been able to get out for a while.Thank you for all the lovely emails and pictures. It was great to get to talk to most of you this week. I’m sure most of you will be sharing VE day with your neighbours at a safe distance.

I will be continuing  to catch up with you throughout the week but please do email if we can help with anything.
Here are some things you may like to try this week:

Physical Development - why not try some bubble painting. You just need to water down the paint and use either straws to blow through or bubble mix wands. They make beautiful works of art.

Maths - try playing and build your alphabet with blocks. Mark the letters of their name with masking tape and see if they can make the letters using bricks. Once they have completed this you can count the bricks in each letter, add them all together, match them all in colour groups.

Expressive Art and Design -  can you do some den building together either in the house or outside. Use lots of different items to construct and balance. Make this a place where they can have some quiet time. Share a story together, use puppets or toys to help them create a story.

Make a feely box and see if your child can guess what's inside by the noise it makes. One they have played ask them to fill it with new items to play with you or a sibling. They may find it hard not to tell you what they have used!

VE Day - Local - Thursday 7th May 2020 -
With the national commemorations taking place on Friday 8th May 2020, we plan to hold our own local virtual #InspiredToLearn commemoration on Thursday 7th May 2020.
Our commemoration will take the format of an #InspiredToLearn Music Concert that will run from 2pm through to 5pm, hopefully providing the perfect backdrop to another picnic in your garden. We figured that two picnics in two days can be no bad thing!?
If you or your son/daughter would like to play at this virtual concert, please email me and we will work out agreed songs and timings in advance.
At 4:00pm, we will join together with a POW-wide rendition of Dame Vera Lynn’s ‘We’ll Meet Again’, perfect practice before the national effort on the following day.

75th Anniversary - VE Day -
Friday 8th May 2020 marks 75 years since the guns fell silent at the end of the war in Europe. The 75th anniversary of Victory in Europe was to have been marked with a series of local and national events, including our very own #InspiredToLearn VE Street Party.
However, with these plans now cancelled the idea of a 'Stay at Home Street Party' is encouraging people to decorate their houses in red, white and blue and have a picnic in their front garden to celebrate.

We really can’t wait to welcome you all back and have really missed all of you.

Speak to you all soon

Zoe, Chloe and the Pre-School Team
