Hello everyone

Year 1

Hello Everyone,

We have had a great week of learning and the children have really enjoyed exploring the theme of ‘Space’’

On Monday we read the story of Zoom to the Moon. The children really enjoyed looking at the pictures and had lots of questions.

On Tuesday we played some role play about going to the Moon and the things we would need to take with us.

On Wednesday we did lSpace painting with marbles and the salad spinner.

On Thursday we continued with our space paintings. We also did some craft Space pictures using tin foil and black card.

On Friday we practised our cutting skills using different materials to see which things cut easiest.

We have played lots of small group games and worked on our numbers and counting. The children were also exploring shadows in the sunshine.

The children are really enjoying our healthy overs activities and the children are really progressing their coordination skills.

We have also enjoyed some time in softplay in small groups as well as making use of the outside space for short periods of time.

It has been great to have Chloe back with us and I hope you all look forward to getting to know her, if you don’t already, over the coming weeks.

This week we will be exploring ‘Whatever Next’ I am sure the children will enjoy this and we have some great activities planned.

The Healthy Movers activity will be Birds in the Trees. This is all about supporting stability and balance.

Charlie Bear will be starting to make his adventures home with the children this week. We look forward to reading about what he has been up to over his time with you. If it’s easier you can email any photos to Zoe on the email address below.

Home Learning

  • Can you put on your own shoes and coat ready for Preschool? the children are getting more resilient to having a try at doing this themselves.

  • How many people live  in your house?

We are welcoming another new face to the class this week so we will be learning some new names to play with.

Please continue to sign up for Parents/Carer’s evening. The lists are on the window as you drop your child off. Zoe looks forward to catching up and sharing your child’s interests and progress with you.

Stay and play morning sessions are now posted next to our door on the window. It would be great to see you. These run once a week on a different morning each week from 8.30am-9.00am. We also have one every half term on a Saturday. This week stay and play is on Friday morning at 8.30-9.00am.

If you have any further questions you can email Zoe on the following email.

We are a NUT FREE SCHOOL, so please can we remind our families that the children have no products containing nuts in their lunchbox.

Looking forward to a great week of fun learning together.
