Hello everyone....

Year 1

Hello Everyone,

We had a  great week and we have very much enjoyed experimenting with water in some interesting ways. We have looked at volume, weight, colour and made predictions.

This week we are being led by what the children's best interests have been in year 1.  Some of the suggestions are: animals, sea creatures, painting, using scissors and making lots of mess and having lots of fun learning experiences.

Jennie Jigsaw

This week we will be continuing to explore our new friend the ‘Beat baby’ to the group. He helps the children to explore their emotions and helps them to express themselves.

Letters and Sounds

This week we will play games with musical instruments. The children will be leading the music ideas this week and I am sure we will play follow the leader during the week.

We do have a box of spares if needed. Please  apply suncream to your child before school and tick your child's name off on the list which will be on the green table by the pre-school doorIf you have ticked to supply your own suncream, please could you make sure either it is in their bags or a spare is kept at pre-school.

Predicted Extreme Heat

Thursday 14th July 2022

Dear Families,

The Met Office has extended an amber extreme heat warning for Sunday 17th July, Monday 18th July and Tuesday 19th July 2022, as temperatures will build this weekend and early next week for much of England and Wales.

The amber warning highlights likely adverse health effects for the public, not just limited to those most vulnerable to extreme heat.

To prepare for this, at The Prince of Wales School we will be following the government guidance on looking after children and those in early years settings during heatwaves, including the use of ventilation, keeping children hydrated, and avoiding vigorous physical activity. Teachers will be adapting their plans to reflect the heat warning.

To support our efforts, Monday and Tuesday will now be non-school uniform days at The Prince of Wales School. Instead of their usual school uniform, children should wear loose, light coloured clothing and sun hats with wide brims where possible.

As always at this time of the year, please ensure that sunscreen is applied generously before school and that you provide your child with plenty of water.

We thank you in advance for your support in keeping everyone safe at this time.

Yours faithfully,

Mr. Gary Spracklen - Headteacher
